WEEKLY LEAGUE REVIEW
South East Division - Week of February 11th, 2010
New Bedford wins 3, moves into First Place
The only scheduled game back on January 23rd pitted the league leaders Nauset, against last-place Fall River. Nauset recorded two first period goals and Fall River hung tough for two periods, but the flood gates opened in the third and Nauset poured in 6 goals to easily cruise to an 8-2 victory. |

New Bedford's first game of the day on January 30th was against Taunton and both teams came out flying. 5 combined goals in the first period set the stage for an offensive showcase. In the end, New Bedford’s offense did not stop as they added 8 goals in the last two periods and went on to win, 11-3. New Bedford’s Casey Carreau led the way with 7 points for his team. |
Updated: A correction has been made to the score of this game. Logan Valley of Dartmouth scored the game winner with 5 seconds to play to lift his team to a 7-6 victory over NEHI. |
This matchup between Nauset and Lakeville/Freetown turned out to be a one-sided affair, as Nauset proved once again that they may be the class of the Southeastern Mass Jr. High league. Led by their offensive catalyst, Joe Peterson, Nauset found the back of the net 7 times and gained the two points with a 7-1 win. |
New Bedford’s second game on January 30th proved to be a mirror image of their first game. They scored 11 more times (for a total of 22 on the day) and handed Fall River another tough defeat, 11-4. A second period explosion that saw New Bedford rack up 7 goals and the dynamic trio of Carreau, Luc Suave and Max Suave was far too much for Fall River to handle.

Dartmouth got back on track this past weekend and earned a much needed two points with a dominant 9-3 victory over Taunton. Brendan Sullivan, Owen Sylvia and Garret Silvia all found their way onto the score sheet for Dartmouth, while Zach Cabral notched two goals for Taunton in a losing effort. |
Coming off the heels of their biggest win of the season, NEHI almost pulled off another upset. However, a late third period goal by Lakeville/Freetown spoiled NEHI’s bid for a second consecutive upset. |
Note: New Bedford earned a win against Nauset on February 6th because of a forfeit.
